SUMMARY

The magnificent valley of Hemel & Aarde hosts the final event NISSAN TrailSeeker Western Cape series at Sumaridge Estate Wines in Hermanus on 30 September.

The area flaunts a diverse array of mountain biking trails catering for all levels of riders.  With panoramic views of vineyards surrounded by majestic mountains and glimpses of the coastline, it is no wonder that the area seems like it’s heaven on earth.

The Hemel & Aarde routes have claimed their fame from the Wines to Whales and the Cape Epic and need no introduction, but exciting new additions to the routes will ensure a memorable time on the bike for all.  This family-friendly event caters for all levels of skill and fitness.  Riders can choose between 10km, 20km, 40km and 70km routes on offer.  The valley provides visitors with endless opportunities to explore with a variety of different activities to try and new things to discover.  Riders and spectators can look forward to the all the features that make this series so popular – a beer garden, food court, massages, expo- and club areas, child minding facility, bike wash, well-stocked water points, top medical services with a doctor on site, and much more!

DIRECTIONS

From Cape Town Take the N2 towards Somerset West and George. At Bot River take the R43 to Hermanus. About 3kms before you reach the centre of Hermanus, you will reach a four way stop. You will see Wine Village on your left and an Engen petrol station on your right. Turn left on the R320. Sumaridge is about 8kms from the four way stop.

From George/Riversonderend take the N2 towards Cape Town. After Riversonderend. Turn left on the R326 sign posted to Hermanus. At Stanford turn right onto the R43 again sign posted to Hermanus. Carry on along the R43 through Hermanus at the second four way stop. Turn right on the R320 and Sumaridge is about 8kms up the road.

NISSAN TRAILSEEKER FUN RIDE

The Fun Ride is for the youngsters or families who wish to ride together.


NISSAN TRAILSEEKER FUN RACE

The Fun Race is an easy route, aimed at beginner mountain bikers. A high level of fitness is not required and the route consists mainly of dual tracks and gravel roads, with some nice single track. If you can complete the Fun Race in less than 1h30min, you can move to the Half-Marathon distance.


NISSAN TRAILSEEKER HALF-MARATHON

The Half-Marathon is deemed for intermediate, recreational riders who will need to have a fitness level to take on challenging short climbs and rocky surfaces. Some surfaces and descents are considered dangerous, therefore riders need to be cautious and careful not to obstruct other riders but the route is sure to get your heart pumping.


NISSAN TRAILSEEKER MARATHON

The Marathon route is a challenging distance with numerous sharp turns, climbs and fast downhills.
