Many Gauteng mountain bikers rate the trails as Van Gaalen Cheese farm as the best in the province. Over the years, hand built single track has been put together which meanders through the Magalies ravines and gorges, as well as along river banks and over bridges. The trails at Van Gaalen switch between varied terrain and include river crossings, bush tunnels and spectacular views, with occasional tough climbs. The cheese farm really does its job to show off what the Magalies area has to offer for mountain bike thrill seekers, without disappointing results.

Situated about 25 km from Mbombela, the capital of Mpumalanga, Kaapsehoop is a fairytale town with a rich and monumental history that lies 1586m above sea level on the Highveld escarpment. With fairy tale charm and historical appeal, Kaapsehoop is a quaint little town at the top of a mountain that boasts mountain biking trails over plantations and indigenous forests in the De Kaap valley. Many of the routes are not publicly accessible and offers magical views of an area that is unspoiled by man, with the exception of a few historical houses and farm land.
